Okehampton Festival of Food & Music 2017

June 24 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

OkehamptonFestival

The Okehampton Festival of Food & Music 2017

The annual event that grows every year!

Previous years have seen a wide range of amazing local food & drink producers and street food vendors displaying their products and giving us the great opportunity to taste and experience these all in one lovely town – Okehampton.
The festival fills the air with ear-catching music and nose-friendly culinary smells in three key areas:

  • Red Lion Yard – A pedestrian shopping precinct in the heart of Okehampton.
  • Fore Street (Near St James’ Church) – Okehampton’s high street.
  • St James’ Street (As far as the DIY shop) – Situated behind St James’ Church.

Come and experience authentic Spanish cuisine from the Basque region, local gourmet burgers barbecued to order, locally brewed reputable ales, handmade chocolates using goat’s milk, Devon cream teas served by Okehampton’s Victorian Tea Room and so much more!

We have had the absolute privilege of welcoming many, very talented artists from a vast array of different music styles too.

This year’s “Festival Finale” will be bringing the event to a close with an 80’s Karaoke Night and fully stocked bar, in Okehampton’s Charter Hall from 6pm.

New for 2017!

Mamma Bakes CakesMammaBakesCakes

I love baking. It makes me happy and want to smile and I hope that my contribution to the Okehampton Festival of Food and Music will make other people happy and smile too. I make a variety of filled cupcakes; lemon filled with homemade lemon curd, chocolate sponge with hazelnut filling, plain vanilla filled with raspberry and topped with a buttery icing to name a few. I also offer a selection of homemade ‘tray bakes’ and ‘no bakes’ including Malteser Tiffin, Rocky Road and a variety of Flapjacks.

Courtenay PlayersCourtenay-Players

The Courtenay Players have been in regular performance in Okehampton for many years, with their roots going back to the early 1920s. They perform all types of live entertainment from drama to pantomime and they are open to new members from age 8 to 108.

Chocolats de Caprine

Chocolats de Caprine are attending the festival for the second year running and providing a range of delicious hand made chocolates produced with the cream and butter from our own herd of dairy goats. Because our products are produced from dairy goats, rather than cows, it makes them suitable for people with an intolerance to cows milk. They are also Gluten and nut free.

Tors Vodka

Tors Vodka is crafted in micro batches in the foothills of the Dartmoor National Park.
Just like the granite hill tops that it’s named after, their Vodka stands alone in its field. They are attending the festival for the first time and will be selling 700 ml bottles of their distinctive vodka, as well as a selection of very special cocktails.

Delectisimo

Delectisimo will be offering an exciting range of vegitarian street foods at this year’s Festival of Food & Music. Providing delicious meals and snacks which are easy to eat on the go. They are dedicated to providing high quality foods, with a strong emphasis on dishes for those on gluten-free, dairy-free and other special diets.

Just Living

Just Living will be at the Okehampton Food and Music Festival again this year. Our stall will be outside St James chapel as usual, and we will be supporting farmers by selling Palestinian and Fair Trade produce – olive oils, dates, freekeh, giant couscous, za’atar, dried fruit, nuts, honey and chocolate! Looking forward to meeting you….!

Quance Wines

Quance Wines
Quance Wines is a small, family run boutique vineyard and winery set in the heart of the idyllic North Devon countryside. All our wines are produced entirely from our own grapes, allowing the wines to show the true ‘terroir’ of our vineyard. We produce still red, white and rosé wines and will be offering free tastings as well as sales by the glass and by the bottle.

One Point Five

One Point Five

One Point Five are a duo playing mainly Jazz, Blues and Latin music.
They have performed throughout the South West and as far afield as Southern Spain.
With Cheryl’s warm bluesy voice and Jeff’s unique style of guitar playing, they are the duo with a difference.

World Food Cafe

World Food
World Food will be at the festival again this year. What they will be offering is a surprise for the day though – Will it be exotic Persian wraps? Seductive Spanish seafood paella? Maybe even some mysterious Moroccan cuisine? You’ll have to come and see (and taste) for yourself!

If you’re lucky, he may even divulge one of his famous recipes!

Curworthy Cheese attending Okehampton Festival of Food & Music 2016

Curworthy Cheese
Pleased to be able to attend the Okehampton Festival this year with a full selection of their cheeses, Curworthy Cheese has been made at Stockbeare Farm, Jacobstowe near Okehampton for over 25 years – a perfect area for grass growing with its unique climate of rain and humidity. Milk is sourced from local dairy farmers in the area, delivered overnight and pasteurised the next morning to make this award winning cheese. “We look forward to meeting new and previous customers at the festival”.
